We are honored to announce that Virginia has officially recognized May 17th as NEC Awareness Day and May 31st as NEC Remembrance Day.
We are deeply grateful to NEC Society for providing families like ours with the education, advocacy tools, and guidance needed to help make this recognition possible. Because of their leadership and unwavering commitment to NICU families, we were empowered to help bring NEC awareness and remembrance to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Another incredible NEC loss mother submitted the proclamation request for NEC Awareness Day, while I, Jocelyn Duvall, Founder of The Forever Jewelz Foundation, submitted the proclamation request for NEC Remembrance Day in honor of the babies we have lost to Necrotizing Enterocolitis.
We proudly stand with the NEC Society in their mission to “Build A World Without NEC.”
Today, our babies’ stories are being recognized across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Their lives mattered. Their fight mattered. Their legacy matters.
This recognition is bigger than a proclamation. It is a promise that we will continue advocating for awareness, prevention, education, breastfeeding support, donor milk awareness, and research to help protect vulnerable premature babies and support NICU families everywhere.
For every family carrying the weight of NEC & loss — we see you, we stand with you, and we will continue fighting in honor of our children.
For our warriors.
For our angels.
For the babies who deserved more.
We remember them. We honor them. We fight for them.
