Meet Our Mighty Hornet- NEC Survivor Miya Van Lutterveld

 “My baby was born on May 1st, 2024 - full term. She was born with what the pediatricians said neonatal sepsis. She developed NEC and had to get an emergency operation due to perforation in the intestines. The surgeon removed her appendix, part of her small intestine and 2 thirds of her large intestine. She had 2 stomas brought out. Ileostomy and a mucus fistula. She had the stomas from May to July. In July she had another emergency operation to clear obstruction and closure of the stomas. She is now almost 18 months old and is a healthy baby.” - Kotie Van Lutterveld
